Practitioner Foundation Practice Exercises

Suggested PreRequisites:

1. To complete this practice exercise, you must use an Aeon Trial Account. We provide these during trials or onboarding.

2. It is best if this exercise is completed after Practitioner Foundations Training Session 2.

3. All assets (cards) referred to are provided by Aeon Support. Contact us if you don't have them or require an updated copy.

This is an optional exercise you can do to get more practice!

STORY

David Derry continues to experience intermittent exertional chest tightness. His ECG is normal, but his lipid results and family history indicate increased cardiovascular risk.

OBJECTIVE

Review the available clinical information, create a new Prescription, prepare a Cardiology Consult, and assign follow-up work.

Step Task to Complete
1 In the Calendar, open David Derry's appointment
2 Update the status to In Progress
3 Start a new Chart Note
4 Review the Chest Tightness Issue and add it to the Chart Note from the right side-bar
5 Review the Family History of Early Myocardial Infarction and add it to the Chart Note from the right side-bar
6 Add the ECG and Lipid Panel to the Chart Note from the Files area in the right side-bar
7 Change the title of the Chart Note to Cardiovascular Risk Follow-Up

Add a short SOAP Note confirming that the ECG, lipid results, symptoms, and family history were reviewed OR copy/paste this note in:

S: Continues to report intermittent chest tightness with exertion

O: ECG normal. Lipid results reviewed. Family history of early myocardial infarction noted

A: Exertional chest tightness with increased cardiovascular risk

P:

  • Start Rosuvastatin 10 mg once daily
  • Refer to Cardiology for assessment
  • Follow up on Cardiology referral if no response within 2 weeks
9 Create a Prescription embed for Rosuvastatin 10 mg:
Take 1 tablet by mouth once daily
10 Review the print and fax options without sending the Prescription
11 Download the Prescription
12 Return to the Chart Note using link at bottom left
13 Create a Consult embed

Create a Cardiology Consult to Patel Cardiology

Include information about David’s exertional chest tightness, family history of early myocardial infarction, and relevant lipid results

15 Add David's Medication to the Consult by using the +Medications button
16 Connect the Chest Tightness Issue to the Consult
17 Attach the ECG and Lipid Panel File to the Consult
18 Create the Consult
19 Update the Consult status to Sent
20 Add a Timeline comment in the Consult noting that the Consult was sent outside Aeon for this training scenario
21 Go back to the draft Chart Note (found in Charting sub-tab)
22 Create a General Task embed for Staff to follow up with Cardiology if no response is received within two weeks
23 Sign and Save the Chart Note
24 In the Calendar, update the status of the Appointment to Complete

By completing this exercise, you now understand that:

  • Consults combine clinical information already stored in Aeon
  • Issues and Files can be connected to a Consult
  • Consult statuses and Tasks help the clinic track referrals after the visit
