How to set up Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)
Review the step-by-step instructions on protecting and accessing your secure Aeon account
Environment
- Any operating system.
Instructions
1. Accept the invitation to Aeon in your inbox
2. Set a password
Best Practice 🚀: Ensure that you are using a password considered strong by industry standards, such as a passphrase. Never reuse passwords across websites.
3. You will be asked to set up a Multi Factor Authenticator (MFA):
4. Open your chosen authenticator
Note: You may already have an authenticator you use, so feel free to continue using it!
iPhone Users
- If your clinic uses a username and password login, you can use the built-in Passwords app to store your username, password, and authenticator code.
- If you are logging in with a social connection (e.g., Google login), you will need to use a dedicated authenticator app such as Google Authenticator.
Android Users
- Use Google Authenticator or another third-party authenticator app.
Choose one of the options below (not both):
5. Setting Up Google Authenticator
- Open Google Authenticator on your mobile device (or download it from the Google Play store - links above)
- Click the + icon at the top right of the screen
- Scan the QR code that Aeon provided you
- Enter the code you see in the Authenticator into the screen in Aeon and click Continue
5. Setting up Apple Passwords
- Open the Passwords app on your iPhone
- Tap All, then choose the account for the website or app you want to set up
- Under Security, tap Setup Verification Code
- Tap Scan QR Code and use the camera to scan the QR code provided by Aeon
- Enter the code provided into the screen in Aeon and click Continue
Once configured, the authenticator app will automatically generate the necessary verification codes for future sign-ins to that account. These codes are time-sensitive and refresh periodically.
Going forward, you would simply log in using MFA.
